The Acas Council

Acas Council sets our strategic direction, policies and priorities, and makes sure that everything we do meets our agreed strategic objectives and targets. It consists of the Chair and eleven employer, trade union and independent members, appointed by the Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform.

It also makes sure that we:

  • properly safeguard public funds and work as economically, efficiently and effectively as possible
  • respond promptly to public requests for information
  • operate sound environmental policies and practices
  • observe high standards of corporate governance at all times

Council members may not use any information learned through their Acas duties for personal gain or use their position to promote their private interests or those of anyone connected to them. Nor may they discuss or decide upon matters that affect them. They must declare any personal or business interests that might conflict with their responsibilities as Council members.
